MSc in Public Health

The aim of the programme
The aim of the MSc course in Public Health is to train specialists who are capable of monitoring public health problems, and planning, implementing and evaluating interventions to solve them.

The objective of the MSc course in Public Health is to equip those who have completed their studies with knowledge and skills for

  • monitoring the health status of population
  • analysing the factors influencing the health status of populations; exploring and prioritising health needs and demands
  • drafting local, regional and national health policy aimed at solving public health problems
  • planning and organising services to promote health, prevent and treat diseases based on the needs of the target population
  • implementing and managing health-promoting and disease-preventing interventions, and finally
  • analysing and evaluating the effectiveness of those services and interventions.

Specialists who have completed their studies will have acquired thorough knowledge in epidemiology, health promotion, health care management, and health care policy.

Duration of training, calendar of education

The course can be completed in 12 months full time. The course is starting at the beginnig of October each academic year. All subjects are taught in study units (1 to 4-week).

 

Requirements

Entry requirements: A university degree (MD, MSc, BSc, MA or equivalent).

Language requirements: Language of the training is English, therefore it is essential to speak and write English fluently.

  • a copy of diploma (certificate of university or college degree) with transcript of subjects and grades
  • financial statement verifying that the applicant or his/her sponsor has adequate financial resources to cover the applicant's tuition fees and living expenses for the whole course of his/her studies in Debrecen, Hungary
  • recent medical certificate of general health status
  • short curriculum vitae
  • copies of relevant pages of passport
  • 4 recent photos
  • a cheque of 150 USD non-refundable registration fee

 

Tuition fee
Registration fee: 150 USD (non refundable)
MSc in Public Health: 8,000 USD/year* (including students' handbooks, use of library and IT facilities)

* 6,000 USD/year for the graduates of the University of Debrecen, Hungary
